The bipartisan government relations and strategic consulting firm, Whitmer & Worrall, announced the addition of Erik Komendant as Principal to the firm. Erik brings nearly 15 years of experience working closely with corporate leaders across multiple industries to deliver results and impact public policy. As Principal, he will lead and work to grow the firm’s health care practice. Additionally, his extensive government affairs knowledge will also be valuable to current clients across the firm’s other established practice areas.
“We are delighted to welcome Erik to the firm,” said partner Martin Whitmer. “His track record of working in the center of American politics aligns with the long-standing bipartisan approach that we have relied on to successfully deliver for our clients.”
“Erik’s deep knowledge, network and expertise are of immediate value to our clients,” added partner Tom Worrall. “His years of experience in health care, both on and off Capitol Hill, are an excellent complement to the firm and will help us advance our strategic objective to expand our impact.”
“I am excited to be able to join such a well-regarded bipartisan firm and to be able to work with the firm’s clients to navigate Washington and achieve their goals,” stated Erik Komendant. “Leading the growth of the health care practice at a time of significant change for stakeholders is an opportunity I readily accept.”
Prior to joining Whitmer & Worrall, Erik led the government affairs’ teams at two major health care trade associations, the Association for Accessible Medicines and America’s Health Insurance Plans. Recognized as a “Top Association Lobbyist” by The Hill newspaper, his health care policy and advocacy expertise has contributed to significant legislative victories in recent years.
He has been involved in and influenced the outcome of some of the most contentious and significant national debates of the past decade, including the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), the U.S.-Mexico-Canada (USMCA) trade agreement, reauthorizations of the FDA user fee programs, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and numerous budget appropriations measures.
Erik also has more than seven years of experience working on Capitol Hill. He served as Policy Director for the moderate Blue Dog Coalition, as Legislative Director for former Rep. Jason Altmire (D-PA-4) and as Legislative Correspondent for Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA-16). He holds an MBA from Georgetown University and a BA from the University of Pennsylvania.
